Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Energy Management, will originate and negotiate opportunities for offsite Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in the Asia-Pacific region. The role plays a key part in the company's strategy definition and Final Investment Decision (FID) process for new renewable energy projects across the region.
This position involves significant responsibility and internal visibility within the organization. It is ideal for resourceful individuals with high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and an analytical mindset.
Responsibilities
Draft and review energy-related contracts such as term sheets, full-form PPAs, or market representation contracts to ensure optimal commercial terms and profitable pricing.
PPA Negotiation:
Lead the negotiation process for PPAs to ensure successful and timely closure, coordinating across internal teams to meet deadlines.
Cross-functional Coordination:
Manage internal, multi-disciplinary teams including Project Development, Investment, M&A, and Energy Assessment to support the PPA negotiation process.
Market & Sales Pipeline Strategy:
Drive strategies to assess and expand the sales pipeline from a tactical and financial standpoint, generating high-quality leads for potential offsite PPAs.
Client Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain relationships with clients, frequently engaging with existing partners to foster long-term collaborations.
Quantitative Analysis:
Lead quantitative assessments to determine pricing, risk exposure, and simplified NPV (Net Present Value) calculations for energy-related projects.
Strategic Insights:
Provide insights and updates on potential and ongoing PPA projects to top management, clients, and partners. Deliver structured presentations containing key strategic information for decision-making.
Market Research:
Develop and implement market strategies by researching routes-to-market for renewable energy projects across multiple countries. Analyze competition, industry trends, emerging customer challenges, and changes in the marketplace.
Requirements
- Necessary:
- Minimum 6 years of direct experience in offsite PPA origination, including client outreach, commercial processes, and PPA negotiation.
- Valued:
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in energy trading, renewable project development, clean energy procurement, or strategic consulting functions.
- Background in financial modeling or similar analytical roles.
Technical Skills
- Necessary:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Valued:
- Fluency in Mandarin or Japanese.
- Ability to prepare interactive dashboards using PowerBI or similar digital tools.
