Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of the organization's Swiss and Hong Kong entities, overseeing investor communications, and handling accounting and reporting for the Distressed Asset Portfolio (DAP) in accordance with IFRS 9 standards. This position is essential for ensuring precise financial reporting, adherence to Swiss GAAP and IFRS, and effective financial planning across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of Swiss & Hong Kong Entity Accounts:
Supervise comprehensive accounting functions for the Swiss and Hong Kong entities, encompassing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end closures and management reports in line with the established closing schedule.
Maintain compliance with Swiss GAAP, IFRS, and the organization's accounting policies.
Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate financial audits and ensure statutory compliance.
Oversee tax obligations and ensure all statutory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
Manage forecasting and budgeting processes for the Swiss and Hong Kong entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Distressed Asset Portfolio (DAP) Accounting and IFRS Compliance:
Manage the accounting processes for the organization's Distressed Asset Portfolio.
Ensure precise monthly reporting, conduct quarterly valuations, and oversee the addition of new assets and internal transfers related to the DAP.
Collaborate with internal investment analysts, management information systems teams, and country finance managers to collect pertinent financial data.
Serve as the subject matter expert on DAP-related accounting treatments, ensuring compliance with IFRS 9 Financial Instruments standards.
Investor Reporting and Compliance:
Act as the primary point of contact for investor reporting, ensuring all monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting requirements are met promptly and accurately.
Prepare and consolidate reports for investors and external stakeholders, maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure adherence to investor agreements and fulfill all financial disclosure obligations.
Financial Process Enhancement and Operational Support:
Ensure the smooth execution of financial processes and internal controls, aligning with the organization's policies.
Assist in financial analysis, planning, and reporting to support informed management decision-making.
Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency of financial processes within the organization.
Address ad hoc requests as assigned by finance leadership, providing timely and effective support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or possession of a relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
At least four years of experience in finance or accounting, with a minimum of two years in a senior capacity.
Preferably, a minimum of three years' experience as a Senior Associate in external audit within a Big 4 or mid-tier firm. Alternatively, a combination of two years in an accounting firm and 2-3 years in a commercial finance role (e.g., General Ledger Accountant, Financial Planning & Analysis, or Financial Analyst).
Direct experience with month-end closures and the preparation and review of management reports.
Strong technical proficiency in financial reporting, particularly IFRS 9, and consolidation accounting.
Analytical mindset with robust problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented, quick learner, and committed to meeting deadlines.
Proactive, hands-on approach with a solution-focused mentality.
