We are now looking for a skilled Manager, M&A / Senior Consultant to support our growing team in the APAC region, particularly with a focus on the Japanese market.
Role Overview:
The Manager, M&A / Senior Consultant will play a key role in the delivery of M&A advisory services to clients within the APAC region. This role requires a strong understanding of M&A processes, financial analysis, and strategic market insights, with a specific emphasis on Japanese-speaking clients and markets. The Manager will be responsible for supporting deal execution, conducting due diligence, leading client communications, and managing a team of analysts and associates to deliver high-quality advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
M&A Transaction Support:
- Assist in the end-to-end execution of M&A transactions, including market analysis, due diligence, financial modeling, and deal structuring.
- Work closely with clients to identify and assess strategic acquisition targets, divestiture opportunities, or other M&A-related solutions.
- Coordinate the preparation of transaction-related documents, such as presentations, financial models, and reports, ensuring accuracy and client satisfaction.
Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain and develop relationships with Japanese-speaking clients, understanding their needs and providing timely strategic insights.
- Serve as a point of contact for Japanese clients and stakeholders, facilitating clear communication in both Japanese and English.
- Provide tailored advice to clients on M&A strategies, valuation, and financial structuring, taking into account regional and cultural factors.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Lead and manage a team of junior consultants, analysts, and associates to support M&A engagements.
- Oversee the quality and timely delivery of work from the team, ensuring client expectations are met.
- Provide mentorship and professional development for junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Financial Analysis and Due Diligence:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including financial statement reviews, forecasting, and valuation techniques.
- Coordinate and support due diligence efforts, identifying key financial and strategic risks and opportunities for clients.
Business Development and Market Research:
- Support business development efforts to attract new clients and expand the firm’s M&A presence in the Japanese market.
- Contribute to the development of market research and competitive intelligence reports, identifying trends and opportunities in the APAC M&A landscape.
Strategic Advisory and Reporting:
- Provide strategic advisory on deal structure, negotiation strategies, and integration planning.
- Prepare and present high-quality reports, presentations, and analyses for clients, senior management, and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience in M&A advisory, corporate finance, investment banking, or management consulting, with a focus on M&A transactions in the APAC region.
- Proven track record of successfully supporting M&A deals, including due diligence, financial analysis, and client relationship management.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in Japanese (both written and spoken) is essential to manage Japanese-speaking clients and facilitate communication with Japanese stakeholders.
- Strong business-level proficiency in English is also required to interact with global teams and clients.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong understanding of M&A processes, including negotiation, structuring, and post-merger integration.
Education:
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

Travel:
- Willingness to travel within the APAC region, particularly to Japan, as needed for client meetings, site visits, and transaction support.
