This HR Deputy Director will be required to be fully based at the HQ in Penang, and will be reporting directly to the current HR Director.
Role entails overseeing a large portion of HR operations in Malaysian HR with cross-country collaboration with HR operations in Thailand.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional HR Management:
- Oversee HR operations in Malaysia, ensuring alignment with company goals and regional HR strategies.
- Provide strategic support to HR Managers in Malaysia to implement effective HR processes and optimise operational efficiency.
Collaboration with Thailand HR:
- Support the Head of HR in Thailand on various HR matters, facilitating smooth collaboration between the two regions.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior HR staff in Thailand to build their capabilities and ensure consistent HR practices.
Process Optimisation:
- Review and analyse existing HR processes to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Develop and implement new strategies and processes to enhance HR operations and support organisational growth.
Data Analytics and Reporting:
- Utilise HR data analytics to inform decision-making, identify trends, and develop insights for strategic HR initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports on HR metrics for the HR Director and senior management.
Learning and Development:
- Identify training needs and design targeted learning and development programs to address skill gaps within the HR department and across the organisation.
- Implement coaching initiatives to enhance the performance of HR staff and improve overall departmental effectiveness.
Employee Engagement and Support:
- Foster a positive workplace culture by implementing employee engagement initiatives and support programs.
- Address employee concerns and facilitate conflict resolution as needed.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure adherence to local employment laws and company policies across Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
- Stay updated on HR best practices and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the HR team in Malaysia, promoting professional growth and development.
- Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among HR staff in both Malaysia and Thailand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; PHD or Masters is preferred.
- Experience in relevant industries,aerospace, manufacturing(semi-conductor is preferred), oil and gas, construction, or technical industries.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in HR management, with 10-15 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian and regional employment laws and HR generalist best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS and data analytic tools.
- Must be willing to be based in Penang full time and occasionally travel to Thailand.
