Position Overview
We are a dynamic, fast-growing tech startup backed by top-tier venture capital firms, offering an AI-powered Consumer Financing Platform tailored for hire purchase businesses and other lending services. We are seeking a strategic and visionary General Manager – Finance / CFO to lead and shape the financial strategy as we scale regionally. This role is integral to our next phase of growth, and we are looking for a financial leader who can navigate high-growth environments, drive strategic decision-making, and support key fundraising and expansion efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align financial strategies with the company’s growth objectives, particularly focusing on regional expansion.
- Provide actionable insights, recommendations, and strategic financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial models that guide investment strategies, scalability, and long-term business growth.
- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics to optimize performance and maximize ROI.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison with investors, board members, and key external partners, ensuring smooth communication and strategic alignment.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including preparation of investor decks, managing capital calls, and overseeing investor relations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial institutions.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, especially within the venture capital and regional expansion landscape.
- Implement and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and other external factors that could impact financial activities.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, adopting best practices in financial operations.
- Implement efficient workflows to enhance productivity across financial functions.
Financial Management and Accounting
- Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, ensuring compliance with Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS) and other regulatory frameworks.
- Manage corporate accounts, including financial reporting, audits, tax planning, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to maintain financial health and sustainability.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Identify, evaluate, and assess potential M&A opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Lead due diligence processes, conducting financial and operational assessments.
- Structure M&A deals, negotiate terms, and oversee integration efforts.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and operational teams to ensure seamless transitions for acquired entities.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent professional certifications are highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in a startup, fintech, venture capital, or private equity environment is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, corporate finance, accounting, and M&A activities.
