Position Description – Financial Controller
The Role:
As the Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position requires a strategic leader with strong attention to detail and the ability to drive financial efficiency within the organization. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA qualification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within a medium-sized company.
- Strong knowledge of local accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
What You Will Be Doing:
1. Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and operating metrics.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including setting financial targets, forecasting, and monitoring performance against the budget.
- Develop financial models and projections to support business planning and decision-making.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budget, providing insights and recommendations for corrective actions.
3. Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Optimize working capital and implement efficient cash management strategies.
- Oversee the management of accounts receivable and payable.
4. Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with the CFO and executives to develop and implement the company’s financial strategy.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic business decisions and growth initiatives.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and risk management strategies.
5. Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Oversee internal controls and audit processes to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure the finance team is equipped with the necessary skills and tools to perform effectively.
- Promote collaboration across departments to achieve financial and operational objectives.
7. System and Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
