The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing all financial operations, reporting, and strategy for the company. This role will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in driving financial performance, business insights, and growth strategy. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep expertise in retail finance, and a proven track record of managing financial processes and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with local accounting standards and IFRS.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including regular updates and variance analysis.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making and operational improvements.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure optimal liquidity for the business.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient cash management, inventory turnover, and payment cycles.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to comply with all regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to junior finance staff.
- Ensure the team is aligned with company goals and objectives.
Financial Strategy & Business Partnering:
- Partner with senior leadership to drive long-term financial strategies and business growth.
- Support decision-making processes by providing financial insights on key initiatives, such as new product launches, expansion, and cost optimization.
- Assess financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and recommend actions to maximize profitability.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement:
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance financial performance and streamline operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a managerial role, preferably in retail or consumer goods.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and business practices in Malaysia.
- Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience in managing teams and collaborating with senior leadership.
- High proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and actionable manner.
